History of Fire Fighters & Lincoln Midget Football:

Lincoln Fire and Rescue have been a sponsor of Lincoln Midget Football for quite a long time. Not only does Lincoln Fire and Rescue sponsor the Firefighters Football Program, but several Lincoln Firefighters volunteer as coaches.

The first of Lincoln's Fire Companies originally banded together in 1872. A total of between forty to fifty men originally made up the department. By 1877, the department grew to nearly seventy men, eventually becoming so large that it divided into two seperate divisions. Today, Lincoln Fire and Rescue is one of only eighty-nine accredited Fire Departments worldwide. The department strives to maintain the highest standards of training and service in fire, rescue, and emergency medical services. Lincoln Fire and Rescue also sponsors the only FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Team in all of Nebraska. Lincoln Fire and Rescue's Primary Functions:   public education/fire safety   fire prevention   fire suppression   paramedic and emergency medical services   rescue and extrication
